Katie Francesca
Katie Francesca trained as a professional dancer, graduating with a BA Hon’s degree in 2005.
Early in Katie’s dance career she experienced the benefits of Pilates, attending regular studio and mat work classes which kept her lean, strong and prepared for the athletic and intensive demands of a dancer’s life.
She learned the important role that Pilates could play in injury prevention and rehabilitation. and recognised the power of intelligent movement.
During this time however, it was also her experience that there weren’t enough fun, dynamic challenging workouts which strengthened the core in safe sensible ways. It was at this time that Katie’s Pilates was born!
Her passion for Pilates led her to set up Katie’s Pilates.

“Pilates on the mat is where the real Pilates magic can be found. It’s where the essence and foundation of the method is learnt. The equipment & the apparatus is then introduced on the mat to support & strengthen the body with getting better at the mat exercises. Learning the discipline is a journey that involves practice & consistency. You really do see & feel the benefits if you stick to it. It’s a way of life for me.”
Katie continues to say
“I love the fact anyone can do Pilates – it’s a low impact form of exercise on the mat, that allows you to move at the level the suits you. I’ve made a point of welcoming all – offering the different levels of the exercise & modifications when needed – my classes are full of all ages, male and female and capabilities – this makes it an open diverse environment. Watch out though! Pilates is addictive!!“
PILATES ALLOWS YOU TO PAY ATTENTION AND RECONNECT YOU TO YOUR BODY:
Whenever you feel burnt out or pushed physically or mentally, Pilates simply allows you to pay attention to where you are in your body. Existing in that moment! You feel relaxed, carefree, light, happy, connected, centred and present. It’s a bonus that you will tone & strengthen the core / body at the same time!
PILATES CAN QUIETEN THE NOISE IN YOUR HEAD: when you are moving through breath led sequences it helps you finally hear yourself think or sometimes not think at all! Pilates brings a kind of stillness for the mind & body.
IT FEELS LIKE MOVING MEDITATION: there’s a rhythm to mat Pilates that calms the nervous system and improves your sleep. The repetition, with the focus on breath and precision becomes a form of mindfulness. We visualise, concentrate & really feel what is happening within the body. From the core. It is a core workout after all!
PILATES BUILDS STRENGTH: you may not see it straight away, but you will 100% feel it. The exercises target the core, improving alignment, stability, posture, muscle tone, bone density, balance, flexibility & control. It’s not about powering through but moving in a smarter way. It’s a lesson that goes beyond the mat!
COMMUNITY: the Katie’s Pilates community has been strong in the area now for over 15 years. Your class will become the highlight of your week! The atmosphere in all the classes is warm, fun and welcoming.
